Our pick of the Web

We have done the hard work for you and searched the web to find the best web sites for walkers and ramblers. Whether you want the latest weather or an ordnance map for your next walk, it's all available right here...

The Ramblers Association
For all things rambling...the web site provides a Bed & Breakfast finder with over 3000 B&B's listed in the UK. It has the latest news and press releases concerning walking and the countryside. It has lots of advice on Outdoor Kit, Public Transport, Events, Holidays and much much more. www.ramblers.org.uk

Walking World
This site has a wealth of knowledge for walkers, written by walkers. It has a 'Where to Go guide' which is designed to give you an insider view of walks in the UK from people who really know the area. Share your knowledge with other ramblers by submitting your walks as well as reading other peoples. www.walkingworld.com

Bradford C.H.A
The official web site for the Bradford C.H.A Rambling & Social Club. The club was founded in 1903 and is the only West Yorkshire Rambling or Hiking Club which has a weekly coach. http://www.bradfordwalking.org/

Walking and Hiking UK
WalkingAndHiking was formed to offer a unique reference point on trekking and rambling in safety.
Walking isn't just good exercise, it's also a great way to enjoy yourself, getting out into the country and hiking. You might want the steep, barren hills of the Peak District, the taxing length of the Pennine Way or the more rolling, and less strenuous, scenery of the South Downs, but wherever you go in Britain, there's plenty of glorious hiking. However, there was no website to satisfy both beginners and experienced hikers - and that's why we created WalkingAndHiking.

The Dalesbus
For comprehensive public transport information for the Yorkshire Dales and surrounding area go to www.dalesbus.org

The Met Office
Read up to the minute local, national and international weather forecasts. Check out rainfall radar animation to see whether there's any rain heading your way. View satellite imagery, watch live web cams around Britain and check rainfall and UV levels for your region. www.metoffice.gov.uk

Ordnance Survey Maps
Search for the maps you want and then purchase online or in your nearest retailer. Take your pick from the various Explorer, Landranger, Touring, Road or Routeplanner ranges. You can purchase interactive maps on CDROM and even download FREE colour maps of any area in Britain. The web site also offers help on reading maps and how to understand them. www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk
